Livestock feeding

We develop microplastic-free formulations to improve intestinal absorption of essential amino acids in livestock nutrition.

Problem

Amino acids, essential components of animal diets, are often not effectively absorbed. This is due to their degradation in the pre-gastric compartments of the ruminant digestive system (rumen, reticulum and omasum) before reaching the abomasum, where main digestion takes place. Current dietary formulations attempt to compensate for these losses by using high concentrations of amino acids (55-80%), but this approach is both costly and ineffective in terms of optimal absorption.

Solution

Nanomnia has developed a new generation of ruminant and poultry feed formulations that improve intestinal absorption of essential amino acids. Our formulations are designed to withstand different transit times and mechanical stresses in the gastrointestinal tract, ensuring targeted release and optimized efficacy. With this technology, we can ensure superior quality of derived products (meat and milk) and promote better animal health. The advantages are:

  • Economic Efficiency: Reduction in the amount of amino acids needed in feed formulations, lowering costs.
  • Sustainability: Less waste of resources and reduced environmental impact due to the smaller amount of amino acid supplements used.
  • Product Quality: Higher quality meat and milk, with beneficial nutritional improvements for end consumers.
  • Animal Welfare: Improved overall animal health and welfare through more balanced and effective nutrition.

Readiness

The current stage of development of this technology is TRL 4-5
