Allows the study of dermal absorption and potential passage of substances and formulations into the circulation.
Benefits
Franz's cell provides a simple and effective method for studying the passage of active ingredients through membranes that realistically simulate the human dermis.
Applications for Nanomnia
Franz's cell can be used to:
- study transdermal absorption
- evaluate the toxicity of certain molecules that may be toxic to the body.
Structure
The main elements that constitute the instrument are:
- donor cell, with the formulation to be tested
- certified artificial membrane, designed to mimic the properties and behavior of natural/dermal membranes by controlling certain structural features such as pore size,
- surface charge and permeability
- acceptor cell, containing the liquid medium simulating the internal body environment
- jacket with thermostatically controlled water recirculation to ensure that the correct temperature is maintained during experiments.
